Tennis player Alex Eala marked a new career high as she rose to World No. 54, according to the rankings of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) on Wednesday.

Sure, her run at the WTA1000 Wuhan Open didn’t go as planned, as she bowed out in the first qualifying round to Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima (4-6, 6-3, 2-6).
But that doesn’t dull her shine. Those earlier wins this season? They pushed her up four spots with 1,131 ranking points. Progress is progress!

Next stop: Osaka, where Eala joins a star-studded lineup featuring Leylah Fernandez and Naomi Osaka. After that, she’s set for back-to-back grind sessions at the Guangzhou Open (Oct. 20–26) and the Hong Kong Open (Oct. 27–Nov. 2).
The Asian swing’s been wild, but Alex is clearly locked in. The way she’s been leveling up? We’re totally here for her Top 50 takeover.
