Mark your calendars, PBA fans—the league is bringing its firepower back to Dubai, and the spotlight couldn’t get any brighter. On October 26, two of the biggest names in Philippine basketball—Barangay Ginebra and the San Miguel Beermen—will collide in a Season 50 Philippine Cup showdown at the Coca-Cola Arena.

This marks the PBA’s return to Dubai since 2019, when the league staged back-to-back thrillers at the same venue. Back then, it was San Miguel and Ginebra taking turns against NLEX Road Warriors—SMB pulled off a tight 98-94 win, while NLEX stunned the Barangay in an overtime barnburner, 113-111. Fans packed the arena then, and with this matchup being Ginebra vs. San Miguel straight up, expect the energy this year to be off the charts.

For Ginebra, this isn’t just another overseas game. The Kings remain the most beloved team in the PBA, and fans worldwide will be watching closely to see how they move forward in the post-LA Tenorio era. The heart and soul of the Barangay may be gone from the lineup, but the “Never Say Die” spirit remains very much alive.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Beer enters the clash with championship swagger, fresh off reclaiming the Philippine Cup crown last July after outlasting TNT for the coveted Jun Bernardino Trophy. With a loaded roster and years of winning pedigree, the Beermen are eager to prove once again why they’re the standard in the league.

The Dubai stop isn’t just about one blockbuster game either—the PBA is planning a two-game showcase for its much-awaited return abroad. While the second matchup is yet to be revealed, one thing’s for sure: Filipino hoops fans in the UAE are in for a treat.
