The 20-year-old ace battled through delays, pressure, and a gritty opponent to take down Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, in her opening match at the WTA 125 Suzhou Open in China.
The match was anything but easy. Play was halted with the score tied at 2-all in the first set because of rain, but when the skies cleared, Alex came back locked in. Even after dropping the second set, she stayed composed and powered through a nail-biting decider to claim the W.
Come on Alex Eala!

This bounce-back win couldn’t have come at a better time. Just last week, Eala fell short in the Jingshan semifinals, but instead of sulking, she’s back on court making statements. September has been wild for her — remember, she just bagged her first-ever WTA crown in Guadalajara, then went deep in Sao Paolo and Jingshan. Talk about non-stop grind.

Up next: a round-of-16 clash against Belgian vet Greet Minnen, who cruised past her opening match. Another test, but if Alex keeps bringing this fearless energy, she’s not just surviving — she’s thriving.
Vamos, Alex!
