Kai Sotto shone for NBL team Adelaide 36ers as they beat the Phoenix Suns, 134-124, in an NBLxNBA preseason game on Sunday (Monday morning in Manila) at the Footprint Center in Arizona.
Sotto scored 11 points and had two rebounds, two steals, and one assist, holding his own against a formidable Phoenix frontcourt that includes former first pick Deandre Ayton.
In this video, the 7-foot-2 forward received a fancy pass from teammate Mitch McCarron. Sotto then converted the two-handed dunk with authority.
Kai Sotto with the open dunk against the @suns. He doesn’t look overwhelmed in his first real taste against NBA competition.

Hopefully some teams take notice of his size and game regardless of how near or far he is from making the league. pic.twitter.com/HPkPIKEIyw
Sotto admitted in an interview that he was having trouble sleeping since going undrafted in last June's NBA draft. Despite the career setback, he had been using it as motivation in these latest battles against top quality clubs.
“I can’t sleep at night without remembering the fact that I didn’t get drafted. That’s why I’m here today in the NBL. That’s what keeps me going. It gave me a better sense of direction. Now I know what to do,” said Sotto. “It’s a dream come true to play in an NBA environment, NBA teams, NBA court, NBA fans. I’m pretty excited.”

Adelaide will next face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night (Friday morning, 8:00 am in Manila) at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma.
