The Adelaide 36ers are set to start their NBL Blitz campaign this Friday against the South East Melbourne Phoenix. To follow are two more games against the Tasmania JackJumpers on September 19 and the Illawara Hawks on September 22.
With that, all eyes of his fellow Filipinos are on Kai Sotto, the 7-foot-2 Gilas Pilipinas slotman who is playing his second season with the South Australian squad.
Sotto's form looked good after two games with the Philippine national team last month, both of which he played with NBA star Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz.
Last week, the Sixers lost to the Perth Wildcats in back-to-back exhibition games. However, Sotto still showed a lot of promise especially after one fast break dunk.
In a recent interview, Sotto said he is "very excited" to join Adelaide in Darwin. He said that they have a "pretty fun team" but he is also looking forward to the challenges of his second stint with the Sixers.
"All will be challenging. Our main focus this pre-season is ourselves to continue on developing and working with each other. This Blitz, we're going to push ourselves and you can expect our maximum effort and continue on improving," Sotto said.
Sotto went undrafted in last June's NBA Draft, and this second serving with the NBL squad would be a chance to prove his worth.
