Mapua can't seem to find a break to start Season 98 of the NCAA Seniors Basketball Tournament.
The Cardinals lost to the Lyceum Pirates, 76-67, on Wednesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan to fall to a 1-1 record. Although it is the team's first loss in two games, they are in danger of forfeiting their season-opening 66-55 win against San Beda last September 10.
The reason? Mapua allegedly has an ineligible player in their roster in the person of Gab Gamboa.

Tiebreaker Times reported that the 5-foot-8 guard is enrolled to both Mapua University and St. Clare College of Caloocan. According to the report, this is against the NCAA rulebook.
St. Clare chairperson Dr. Jay Adalem said to have already advised NCAA head of eligibility committee Peter Cayco of the mix up. The association is already investigating the situation.
With that, the Cards could forfeit their opening day victory and remain winless in two outings so far in the tournament.
Gamboa played for seven minutes and 30 seconds in their win over San Beda. He had two points and one rebound.

Gamboa was a DNP (Did Not Play - Coach's decision) during Mapua's loss to Lyceum.
The Cardinals are scheduled to play next on Sunday, September 18, against San Sebastian.
