Lindsey Vander Weide bounced back in the loudest way possible, leading the Petro Gazz Angels to a thrilling 25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21 victory over Chery Tiggo in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday night.

Just days after a quiet outing, Vander Weide silenced the doubters, and the entire arena roared with her. When the Angels needed a spark, she delivered clutch hits that turned what looked like a late meltdown into a fiery comeback win that kept their Top 3 hopes alive.

The energy inside the Capital Arena was electric — a red-and-white storm of cheers as Petro Gazz mounted a 5-0 finishing kick in the fourth set. From down 20-21, Vander Weide went full takeover mode, hammering back-to-back kills and denying Cess Robles at the net before sealing the deal with her signature crosscourt rocket.

She finished with 25 points, matching teammate Brooke Van Sickle, who earned Best Player of the Game honors after adding 20 excellent digs and clutch defensive stops. “They really pushed us to our limits,” Van Sickle said. “But we trusted each other, and that made all the difference.”

Petro Gazz’s teamwork truly showed — Myla Pablo and MJ Phillips chipped in 10 points apiece, Ranya Musa added 8, and rookie setter Jules Tolentino continued to impress with 21 excellent sets. Veteran playmaker Djanel Cheng also came through with steady hands in the clutch.

Meanwhile, Yuni Batista led Chery Tiggo with 21 points, while Cess Robles and Ara Galang combined for 23. The Crossovers fought hard, even erasing a nine-point deficit in the third set, but the Angels simply refused to break.

With the win, Petro Gazz improved to 2-1, keeping pace with unbeaten leaders ZUS Coffee and Akari. More than just a win, though — this one was a reminder of who the Angels really are: resilient, fearless, and absolutely built for the big moments.
