Sorry, Creamline fans. No Jia de Guzman sighting just yet.

The Alas Pilipinas captain won’t be suiting up for the Cool Smashers in the upcoming 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference. Head coach Sherwin Meneses confirmed it’s a management call to give their star setter the rest of the year off before a full comeback in 2026.

“Rest muna si Jia this year,” Meneses explained, noting that the decision was made to prioritize her long-term health and commitments.

Instead, all eyes turn to Kyle Negrito, who continues to prove she can run the Cool Smashers’ offense with confidence.

Negrito was the mastermind behind Creamline’s epic Grand Slam run, and she’s expected to lead the 10-time champs in their redemption bid. Veteran Rhea Dimaculangan-Villarete will also steady the rotation as she plays out her contract through 2025.

For now, Jia’s focus shifts to the international stage — she’ll be steering Alas Pilipinas at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, where the dream is to finally bring home the country’s first women’s volleyball medal in two decades.

So while fans will have to wait a bit longer for Jia in pink, the excitement for her return in 2026 is already building.
