Pureblends Corp. is officially stepping into the league, set to acquire the NorthPort franchise and rebrand it under the Titan Maxx banner, a move that insiders confirm is already a done deal.
While the league has yet to make a formal announcement, all signs point to Wednesday’s golden season press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel as the stage for the unveiling.
Team owner Byrann Calantoc and the newly appointed governor are expected to attend the presser, putting a formal stamp on what has quietly been shaping up behind the scenes. Fans actually got an early hint of the rebrand when Calvin Abueva—yes, The Beast himself—shared a photo of the Titan Maxx jersey on Instagram, sparking instant buzz across social media.
Veteran coach Johnedel Cardel has already taken charge of practices, a clear indication that the transition is well underway. Cardel, previously with Terrafirma, will be flanked by trusted deputies Raymond Valenzona and holdover assistant Rensy Bajar. Adrianne Anglim slides in as team manager, handling contract signings and organizational structure.
As for the roster, Pureblends is keeping a solid core of NorthPort holdovers: Abueva, Joshua Munzon, Fran Yu, Jerrick Balanza, Damie Cuntapay, and James Kwekuteye. To bolster the squad, they’ve added sharp-shooter Von Pessumal, big man Jeo Ambohot, and rookies Chris Koon and Mario Barasi—injecting both experience and youth into the lineup.
Commissioner Willie Marcial has kept his cards close to the chest, saying details will be clarified at the official presser. Still, with the coaching staff already in place, players signed, and jerseys circulating online, the writing is on the wall: Pureblends’ Titan Maxx is ready to roll.
For a league celebrating its golden year, the timing couldn’t be better. A new franchise means fresh rivalries, renewed fan interest, and another corporate player willing to invest in the country’s premier basketball showcase. The Batang Pier’s chapter may be closing, but Titan Maxx promises to bring new energy, both on and off the court.
The PBA thrives on reinvention, and with Pureblends stepping in, the story of Season 50 just got a whole lot juicier. Expect fireworks on opening night.
