But according to league insiders, there’s nothing to the buzz.
A trusted NBA source clarified the situation, revealing that LeBron was simply training at a location now used by Klutch Sports Group—his longtime representation—which happens to occupy the Los Angeles Clippers’ former training center in Playa Vista. “There’s absolutely no link between this and any shift in team allegiance,” the source emphasized. “LeBron has made it very clear within his inner circle—he’ll never suit up for the Clippers.”
Fans were outraged after seeing Lebron James posting a picture with a Clippers logo behind him but it’s actually the new Klutch Sports facility. Rich Paul explained on stream with TheTylilshow pic.twitter.com/svjWrLV1OI

The rumors only gained more traction because of the backdrop and timing. Some speculated that the social media post was LeBron’s subtle way of sending a message to Lakers management. That theory stems from a cryptic statement recently made by his agent Rich Paul, interpreted by some as a sign of frustration. But insiders believe it was more of a strategic nudge aimed at Lakers executive Rob Pelinka to strengthen the roster.
Following the public statement, the Lakers acted fast—signing Jake LaRavia, Deandre Ayton, and Marcus Smart. Dončić, now solidifying his future with the franchise, reportedly played a key role in bringing Ayton and Smart on board. Austin Reaves also helped in recruiting LaRavia.

As it stands, LeBron is fully committed to playing next season in a Lakers jersey. He exercised his player option, signaling he has no intention of leaving Los Angeles—at least not yet. Barring a major surprise, the NBA’s all-time scoring leader won’t be asking for a trade or buyout.
Looking beyond next season, LeBron is poised to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026. Whether he continues playing beyond that remains uncertain, though some insiders believe he’s aiming to share the court with his younger son, Bryce, once he reaches the NBA.
Since joining the Lakers in 2018, LeBron has brought home one championship in 2020 and remains a central figure in the franchise’s plans as they navigate a new era alongside Luka Dončić.
