The queens of consistency did it again.

The Creamline Cool Smashers wrapped up their 2025 PVL Invitational campaign in emphatic fashion, sweeping rivals Chery Tiggo Crossovers in straight sets, 25-15, 25-13, 25-22, on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to secure the bronze medal.

After missing the finals for the second straight conference, Creamline came out with a point to prove. From the first serve to the last kill, the Cool Smashers played with intensity, showcasing not just their firepower but also a new layer of defensive grit that completely shut down the Crossovers.

Leading the charge was Michele Gumabao, who entered the game in peak form and delivered a fiery 17-point performance, including three monster blocks. She iced the third set with back-to-back hits and a cold-blooded kill that left Chery Tiggo stunned. “Medyo malamig galing sa bench, pero iniisip ko lang talaga na pumatay ng bola,” Gumabao said after the match, crediting her teammates, coaches, and fans for the energy that carried them through.

Backing her up were Jema Galanza with 12 points, Alyssa Valdez with 9, and Pangs Panaga with 7. Even rookies and role players stepped up—Lorie Bernardo and Rhea Villarete sparked the pivotal third-set rally, while Sheena Toring chipped in 5 solid markers. Creamline outgunned Chery Tiggo in attacks, 48-31, and owned the net with a 7-2 edge in blocks.

That bronze medal isn’t just hardware—it’s history. The Cool Smashers have now extended their unprecedented streak to 19 consecutive podium finishes since entering the PVL in 2017. That includes 10 championships, 4 silvers, and now their 5th bronze. Even when Creamline doesn’t make the finals, they refuse to leave the podium empty.

For Chery Tiggo, it was a frustrating night. Despite a gallant stand in the third set and a late surge from Ara Galang (10 points) and Cess Robles (9), the Crossovers couldn’t sustain momentum. Creamline’s relentless blocking and floor defense suffocated their attackers, leaving them stuck in fourth place.

With bronze secured, Creamline once again reminded everyone why they’re the gold standard of the PVL—not just because of championships, but because of their culture of resilience, depth, and consistency. And if this performance is a preview of what’s to come, don’t be surprised if another title run is just around the corner.
