Manny Pacquiao turned back the clock with a dazzling performance at age 46, but his dream comeback was clouded by a contentious majority draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In his first professional fight in four years, Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) showcased his trademark speed, flurries of punches, and sharp footwork to take control early in the bout. Facing a younger, taller opponent in Barrios (29-2-2, 18 KOs), the Filipino icon outmaneuvered and outpaced the champion in front of a roaring crowd of 13,000 fans.

Though Barrios managed to find success in some middle rounds with his jab and composure, he often looked overwhelmed by Pacquiao’s relentless output and ring savvy. Despite a valiant showing, the reigning champion appeared to be second-best for large portions of the fight.

Unofficial scorecards from analysts like Uncrowned had Pacquiao ahead 116-113. However, the official decision stunned many: one judge gave it 115-113 for Barrios, while the other two scored it 114-114, resulting in a majority draw and allowing Barrios to retain his title.

“I thought I did enough to win,” said a disappointed Pacquiao after the fight. Still, he hinted at the possibility of fighting again—and even welcomed the idea of a rematch.

Had he been awarded the victory, Pacquiao would have become the second-oldest boxer ever to win a recognized world title—another remarkable feat in a career filled with them.

Barrios, who wore the visible toll of Pacquiao’s punches in the post-fight interview, acknowledged the battle. “I’d love to do it again,” he said, signaling openness to a rematch.

Though the official result left many fans frustrated, Pacquiao’s return proved he still has the heart, skill, and determination of a legend.
