After battling to a hard-fought draw in their welterweight title clash, Manny Pacquiao and Mario Barrios shared a respectful embrace — and possibly set the stage for a second encounter.

The bout, which ended in a controversial majority draw, left both fighters wanting more. Pacquiao, who was attempting to make history by becoming one of the oldest champions in boxing history, made it clear he’s eager for another shot.

“Of course, I want a rematch,” said Pacquiao. “My goal is to leave behind a legacy and continue making the Filipino people proud.”

Barrios echoed the sentiment, expressing enthusiasm for a sequel. “Absolutely, I’m down for a rematch. This was a big moment for boxing, and I’d love to do it again,” said the reigning WBC welterweight champion, who retained his belt despite the draw — his second in a row.

Pacquiao admitted he aimed to close his comeback with a bang, but Barrios proved to be a worthy challenge.

“I was looking for a strong finish, but my opponent was tough,” Pacquiao said. “He landed solid combinations and had good defense. It was a competitive fight.”

Despite falling short of a historic win, Pacquiao delivered an inspiring performance at age 46, four years after his last professional bout.

“I hope this shows that with hard work and discipline, age doesn’t have to stop you,” said the boxing icon, who turned pro in 1995 — just two weeks after Barrios was born.
