Alas Pilipinas is on a mission—and they just made a thunderous statement.

The rising stars of Philippine volleyball delivered another stunning performance on Thursday night, sweeping Thai powerhouse EST Cola, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, to clinch a semifinal spot in the 2025 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup at the Ha Nam Gymnasium.

With this decisive victory, Alas Pilipinas continued their unbeaten streak in the tournament, improving to 4-0 and booking a ticket to the Final Four with swagger, poise, and pin-point execution.

Powerhouse Performance

Leading the charge was Angeline Poyos, who exploded with 18 points—16 coming from sharp, relentless attacks that broke down Thailand’s floor defense. The reigning UAAP Rookie-MVP once again showed why she’s the future of Philippine volleyball, delivering with the confidence of a veteran.

Supporting her was the ever-consistent Vanessa Gandler, who added 13 points and anchored the team’s rock-solid reception. Fifi Sharma brought the fire at the net with 11 points, while setter Alina Bicar orchestrated the offense with control and creativity.

Statement Win Over Thai Club Giant

Thailand’s EST Cola, known for its seasoned players and deep bench, looked overwhelmed by the Filipinas’ fast tempo and aggressive plays. After a tight first set, Alas Pilipinas shifted into high gear, dominating the second and third sets with crisp transitions, effective blocks, and fearless serving.

The win marks another milestone for a squad that’s quickly capturing hearts across the continent—and proving that Philippine volleyball is a rising force in Asia.

"We want to make history"

Head coach Jorge Souza de Brito couldn’t hide his pride after the game. “We played like a team hungry to make history. The girls are focused, they trust each other, and they fight for every point.”

Now in the semifinals, Alas Pilipinas is just two wins away from claiming what once felt impossible: a VTV Cup championship.

From Underdogs to Unstoppable

The Philippines’ journey in this tournament has been nothing short of inspiring. After sweeping Vietnam and Australia in the group stage and surviving a gritty battle against China’s Sichuan club, the win over EST Cola signals a team coming into its full potential.

And they’re doing it not just with skill, but with heart. From Poyos' clutch hits to Bicar’s steady leadership, from Gandler’s calm composure to Sharma’s fire at the net—Alas Pilipinas is playing like a team of destiny.

Next Stop: Semifinals

As they await their next opponent, one thing is clear: Alas Pilipinas is not just here to compete—they’re here to win it all.

With the country rallying behind them, and momentum on their side, the sky’s the limit for these fearless Filipinas.

Mabuhay ang Alas Pilipinas! The road to glory continues.
